Here is an easy way to remove those unwanted dandelions with out harsh chemicals.
I find it easier to do with the dandelions that are huge and not just starting to grow.
Take a small hand shovel or chisel and insert it under the roots into the ground.

Move it around the edges of the dandelion to loosen the roots
until you hear a "pop" of the roots. Sometimes you can get this
pop on the first try, sometimes you need to move it around.

Now you should have a nice loose root that comes out easily from the
ground in one hunk that you can toss away.

If you have a hole left behind, you can just fill it in with the grass and loose dirt around it.

It's actually kind of addicting to do once you get started and satisfying to see all those huge dandelions leaving your yard. FYI... I'd wear gloves b/c sometimes I get a blister on the palm of my hand from digging so many up!
