Hints and Tips to avoid germs this flu season!

Everyone is trying to stay healthy this season and with the Swine/H1N1 flu scare going around, there is good reason to! So here are some tips to pass along to your family, friends, co-workers and anyone else you think will find it useful!

1) Avoid shaking hands!

You may feel like your being rude if you don't shake hands, but just give them a wave and explain to them that your not shaking hands this season to try to keep the germ spread low. It may sound weird to some people, but hey, it's your families health that you need to think about now and not how that person will feel because you don't shake their hand.

2) Use wipes or tissues to handle public items
such as phones, buttons, door handles or shopping carts. I actually use my shopping cart seat cover when I go shopping to not only keep my baby safe from germs, but to keep my hands off the handle. You never know who sneezed on that handle before you!

3) Keep hand sanitizer in your car,
and a mini one in your purse. This is great for those times when you don't have a tissue or wipe and just feel like you need to wash. I never use this as a full proof way to clean however. I always wash my hands as soon as I get to a bathroom or home. Because sometimes I just feel like all I'm doing is rubbing the sanitizer around on my hands with some dirt. Soap and water are the only way to really get clean.

4) WORK PLACE:

Keep wipes, sanitizer and even Lysol spray at your desk! You never know who is going to walk into your office sick, or who may use your phone. It's a great way to keep the work place clean, including those door handles and bathroom handles. Also use your own cups, or disposable ones. Don't use mugs that are hand washed at work because you never know how well they were washed the day before. Also, that candy sitting on your co-workers desk, avoid if it's not individually wrapped. You never know who was around it earlier.

5) In the grocery store, avoid the "free samples" you see
. Once again, you never know who sneezed or coughed on their hands before snagging a sample of their own.

If you have your own tips I'd love to hear them!! Feel free to leave a comment with your tips!!

Enjoy being a Mom All Day!
